Location naming services The Location Naming Services (LNS) is a hierarchical naming system for computers, services, or any resource connected to the Internet. It associates various information with location names assigned to each of the participants. Most importantly, it translates location names meaningful to humans into the GPS positions for the purpose of locating and addressing these devices worldwide. An often-used analogy to explain the Location Name Service is that it serves as the "phone book" for the Internet by translating human-friendly location names into GPS coordinates. Google Maps are used frequently on the internet nowadays, many websites use it. These map services that Google supplies allow businesses and/or individuals to expose special interesting points, the so called POIs. Your POIs (hotspots) are very valuable assets for your website, as it allows end users to find unique information you wish to expose.
